Problem install HACMP V5.3

Trying to install HACMP V5.3 on AIX system 5300-07, but failed because of missing file sets:
bos.rte 6.0.0.0
xlC.aix61.rte 9.0.0.0.
Why it asked for requisite filesets for AIX 6.0.......? while my system is AIX 5.3 ML07

I found work around solution, install AIX 5306, install HACMP then update AIX to ML07 no problem.

Perhaps your file sets in the first system, when it was 5300-07 was inconsistent?

You should make sure your OS is complete and not needing any other file sets / fixes...


Check for missing filesets:
oslevel -s
instfix -i | grep AIX
instfix -icq | grep ":-:" #shouldn't have output....else these are missing...

also:
lppchk -v
lppchk -f
lppchki -c

You can also rebuilt your .toc file by:
inutoc . (where . is your path.....)

I normally install AIX and HACMP required file sets (not HACMP), upgrade my OS to the desired level, install HACMP, upgrade with the latest fixes.....AND only thereafter starting creating a cluster...
