Hi Hmm, well, the same way SDDPCM presents and hdisk, or an abstraction of multiple hdisk objects AIX configures depending on the way zoning is created, SDD presents a vpath device with the same features. Only difference someone explain me were that SDD creates a new aditional software layer, that vpath device, based on a System Resource Controller (dpo subsystem) that consumes more memory and could be slower than SDDPCM. I'm not sure that SDDPCM really does optimized load balancing like SDD does. If fact we have some VIOS LPARs, some running SDD and other running SDDPCM connected to dual HBA adapters (that's four ports to the SAN), and we can see traffic going through all HBAs when using SDD, and see traffic through just two ports of four when using SDDPCM. Hope this helps
