oslevel -r and instfix don't agree

I have updated a user's system from aix 5.3.0.0 to aix 5.3.0.4. However, oslevel -r tells them 5300-01, and instfix -i | grep AIX_ML tells me that "not all packages for aix 5300-04 have been installed". Neither of those is quite what I'd like to see...

oslevel -g 5300-01 tells me that 5300-01 is an invalid maintenance level
oslevel -l 5300-04 tells me the same thing

lslpp -l bos.rte tells me two inconsistent things:
# lslpp -l bos.rte
Fileset Level State Description
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
bos.rte 5.3.0.40 COMMITTED Base Operating System Runtime

Path: /etc/objrepos
bos.rte 5.3.0.10 COMMITTED Base Operating System Runtime
#

So, who's right, and how do I get all these different answers to agree?

Hi,

I think the message you got "not all packages for aix 5300-04 have been installed" is true

You might want to download the ML package again, and also the SP package and upgrade.

Re: oslevel -r and instfix don't agree

Hi,
You might want to try listing the filesets that are missing from your partly installed ML and install them.

instfix -ciqk 5300-04_AIX_ML | grep :-:

Regards,
GZV

Re: oslevel -r and instfix don't agree

If you have the ML on disk just put it in the CDROM and do a smitty install_latest. This happened to me when I had to go back and install some things from the standard load that overwrote what was there. I did the install latest and everything went back to normal.

"« LPAR and CFGMGR | anyone has a script for creating users with password defined » "

This depends somewhat on what you're looking for. Do you want a script to create users who already exist on another system, so you give them the same password, uid, etc? Or do you want to create a bunch of users each of whom has the same password?

This would be better taken to a separate thread.

Re: oslevel -r and instfix don't agree

Hi ,

What is the output of below commands

oslevel -rq
oslevel -rl 5300-04

if you get any listing for second command download them separately from IBM fix central with all pre-requisites and install.since your system is not stable now dont go for a reboot before it shows 5300-04.

Re: oslevel -r and instfix don't agree

This question may end up being moot, since hdisk0 on the system in question went into the toilet, and I'll install it at 5.3.0.4. Thanks for the replies, though.

Good stuff! Thanks.
-rl 5300-04 showed me two lpp's which were backrev, and neither of them is something I care about, so I just deleted them.
