I'm a little confused by your question so hopefully I've gotten this right. The oslevel command, with the -g option will tell you what filesets are later than the specified maintenance level. The reason one machine doesn't list it, and the other does is that one has a higher level than the other. They both have the right versions to "qualify" for 5300-05, but one of them has a slightly more recent version than the other. This is what oslevel is all about: how am I tracking against a known list of filesets at specific versions? Do I have everything I need to qualify for 5300-05? The command to determine what levels each fileset is at is "lslpp". If you run this on each machine it should show you the different levels each has. lslpp -l bos.mp64 In summary: oslevel - checklist me against a collection of filesets at specific versions lslpp - show me the level of a specific or several filesets |

Yes, your servers don't have identical LPPs at identical levels, but in each case the lowest common denominator is 5.3 ml 5. An example of how this works is that I was using all vio on one machine and so didn't have any real ethernet drivers, I briefly installed one that was at 5.3 ml 3 and all of a suddenly 'oslevel -r' told me it was at 5.3 ml 3 since it was the lowest common ML which could include the real ethernet driver which it now considered important. |
