 Not able to install AIX 5.2 in pSeries Server | |

I am not able to install AIX 5.2 in pSeries Server. Server model is 9110-51A. This server came with AIX 5.3 (5300-04 oslevel). Now I am trying to install AIX 5.2 (using 5200-00 oslevel media) in it. I run "bootlist -m normal cd0 hdisk0 hdisk1" and reboot the server. Server starts booting and try to read (or reads) and then nothing happens. I have with another set of media also. I am able to install OS using this same media in a RS/6000 server without any issue. What do I do? Please help.          |

The 51A needs at least AIX 5.2 ML/TL 8 or possibly 9. The 510 needed at least 5.2 ML4, the 51A has faster PCI slots and processors and so when it was introduced it needed a later AIX level to support the new hardware. Ask your IBM business partner for a media refresh at AIX 5.2 TL9 and you should have no problems installing. |
