Hey guys, cool site. Don't really come across too many AIX/pSeries sites, so I'm glad I did! I work in Ottawa, oNtario, Canada. Anyways... just a quick question about creating a SPOT in NIM. My NIM server is running at 5300-04-02. I'm getting ready to apply TL5 w/ SP3. I've set up a new LPPSource with all 53 files up to TL5 service pack 3. I'm having problems creating a SPOT from the TL5 lppsource that I have setup. Now before going into exact errors, should my NIM server be up to the latest level (TL5SP3) before I create this new SPOT? |

If all the files are available in the LPPsource resource, and you use that resource to create the SPOT, why would it rely on which version the Master is at? EDIT: By the way, thanks for your reply ![]() |

Hi there, The best way to do this is using the following method nim_update_all -l lpp_source1 -s spot1 -d /location/of/filesets –u –B Keep your spot and lpp_resource at the same or higher level than clients in your environment HTH Steve

If I already have my lppsource and I setup my spot from that lppsource, why does it matter what version my master is at since they are independent from one another (master and lppsource). |
