All trying to deploy a new NIM server and have created a LPP_resource via the 4 CDS and using #smitty bffcreate it appears to work until I try to create a new LPP source and SPOT of that source it fails with 0042-001 nim: processing error encountered on "master": 0042-162 m_mkspot: an lpp_source which has the "simages" attribute is required for this operation An Error Occurred. The creation of the following resources FAILED: The aix53_TL07_spot SPOT resource was not created successfully. when I copied the cd's into the new resource it did complain that bos was not installed. Could this be the issue and if so how can I get it into that lpp resource? thanks very much |

thanks very much for your reply. I have sorted it. Basically I installed all the TL's but not the bos and pre-req filesets into the lpp_resource. When trying to add them to the existing lpp_resource it failed as the directory structure was not adequate to contain the bos filesets. The follwoing command a wrapper for bffcreate spooled the installation files into images and recreated the directory structure, not removing any of the filesets in the resource. # gencopy -U -d /dev/cd0 -t /export/nim/lpp_source/lpp_rev_TL07 all I was then able to create other resources and eventually the SPOT. Wether I can now provision my clients is another thing, but there were no failures so I can only assume all is ok. Will find out tommorow. Thanks |
