Is there a way to see size information for newly presented LUNs, prior to running mkvg or extendvg? We frequently get multiple LUNs presented of varying sizes, destined for different VG's and would like to see LUN sizing info without resorting to a guessing game. It would be nice if our SAN group would provide us with LUN-IDs & sizes, but it doesn't always happen. |

Hello We have made good experience with the bootinfo -s command (root user needed). Usage: bootinfo -s <hdiskxy> where hdiskxy could be a dlmfdrv too if you use HDLM for example. I had just once a problem with the bootinfo that it showed invalid data, but can't remember on which special circumstance this was, maybe a disk-heartbeat device, I don't know it anymore. Hope this is what you search. Cheers seth |

Alternatively you can use: getconf DISK_SIZE /dev/hdiskx Which gives you a single value that is the size of the disk in Megabytes. This is the same result as the bootinfo -s hdiskx The LUN id is usually contained in the info from lscfg -l hdiskx -vpd, unless you have a DS4000 series box and you can use the fget_config -Av to get data.
