| We have been installing our AIX LPARs using nimol on an RHEL LPAR. We would like to take one of the LPARs, turn it into a NIM Master, and then continue to use the existing Nimol install resource to install clients. Can we transfer the install resource from the Nimol server to the new Nim Master? |

We have an installation source (mksysb image, SPOT, bosinst.data, booti.chrp.mp.ent etc) that we use to install AIX from the Nimol server. We would like to transfer this to the new NIM server without having to rebuild it. |

copy the files to the new server and smitty nim : perform nim administration : manage resources : select lpp_source or spot : select your location and voila. Also very handy is the NIM redbook (IBM Redbooks) This explain practically everything for NIM |

| The process that worked is as follows: 1.) copy the bosinst.data, mksysb, and resolv.conf files to the NIM master 2.) define them as resources 3.) recreate the SPOT using the mksysb as the source 4.) create a client 5.) install to that client using the new resources |
