As i am using Power 5 server mksysb image on Power 4 server, can this be any problem ?. will installation works through NIM server?. and also any precaution required?. PLease advise. I heard i can install but P655 server will frequently reboot. Please advise . Sreenivas. |

Hi, I think that you will not have any problems, becouse kernel is the same on all power platforms, you should beter check for firmware compatibility with aix v5.3 in many cases aix v5.3 will not boot with old firmware. Regards Blade520 |

You'll want to make sure when you restore the mksysb onto the Power4 server that you specify a valid lpp_source in NIM so that it will suppliment the mksysb with the necessary required drivers. I agree with the above, make sure you have the latest firmware on the power4 box to be sure you won't run into any issues running 5.3. Along with this, you may need to also do an HMC upgrade, if your p655 is HMC attached. |
