Lightbulb Minimum SP level for AIX5.3TL7 on VIO server?

I want to create a MP on my VIO server, and install AIX 5.3 TL7 on it.

But I am not sure the minimum SP level it can use, as I heard that VIO server only supports AIX 5.3 TL7 SP8 or above.

Is it correct? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Re: Minimum SP level for AIX5.3TL7 on VIO server?

As far as I know any TL or SP of 5.3 is OK for a VIO client - well, TL01 or above because TL0 is not supported at all - AIX 5.3 officially launched at AIX 5.3 TL01.

Why would you want to install such an old TL level anyway?

TL07 is over 2 years old now and so it will go out of defect support very soon now, if it has not already.

Thanks duke900ssd for the reply. An IBM guy told me that the OS level should be AIX5.3 TL7 or above, for a MP in VIO environment. older TLs (such as 5300-05) wouldn't install on it.

I just tried AIX5.3 TL7 SP2 and it worked.
