Hi i'm searching for the best and simplest way to migrate my aix 4.3.3 and 5.2 boxes from IBM ESS Storage to a new HDS Thunder. i want to use lvm, or is there a better idea? can i use both storage system on my aix with all drivers installed on the same time? please help. thanks! |

Hi There LVM should be the only consideration for disk management with AIX. Without experience of your HDS box I don't envisage an issue. Do you have a test system that you can allocate some disk from your ESS and new SAN? The migration should be fairly straight forward exercise of creating new filesystems and mount points, copying the data then unmount and remounting onto your original mounts HTH Steve

You certanly can use Veritas volme manager with both the ESS and HDS (as with any other disks). Please note that you use SDD or SDDPCM IBM multipathing multiptahting for ESS and HDLM HSD multipathing software for HDS storage boxes. As you can not have both softwares working on a single set of FC adapters simultaneous you should uninstall SDD and install HDLM (which you need to purchase license for) befor eyou are connecting your system to the HDS storage. |
