LPAR and CFGMGR

I have a P570 that for some reason is not allowing the P1-T6 NIC to be recognized. I have confirmed from the HMC that it is set for the LPAR, but when I do a cfgmgr, it won't recognize it. It though is recognizing the slot cards just fine which are P1-C3 for one shelf and P1-C3 of another shelf.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: LPAR and CFGMGR

Have you tried running the cfgmgr command with -v option? Does lscfg -v output show anything for that specific slot?

Re: LPAR and CFGMGR

Hi there

Check that the card is seated correctly in the slot. Have you tried assigning it to another lpar ?

HTH

I finally got it working. What I did not know, and may not truly be the case, was that you have to shutdown the LPAR to get it to recognize something new. I did assign it to another LPAR and it still did not recognize it. I switched it back but before I did, I shut the LPAR off and when it came back up, voila!

Thanks for your help gents!

Re: LPAR and CFGMGR

Hi LegendMan,

That exact issue got me too when my P590's landed, here's the rule I now go by,

If you want to add something permanently, add it to the Lpar profile. You need to shutdown the lpar fully to re-read the profile.

If you can't take the lpar down, add it to the profile, then add the adapter via dlpar and it should appear. If the adapter is in use on another lpar, you need to delete the devices from the original lpar before you can move it.

Cheers...Steve
