| hello, i'm trying to untar geronimo on my aix box: $ tar xvf geronimo-tomcat6-minimal-2.1.3-bin.tar and what i receive is multiple lines, all looking like this: x ././@LongLink, 122 bytes, 1 media blocks. is there any way to untar that archive other then installing gnu tar? thx in advance for any help ![]() |

In short I know none. Here the link to the gnu tar rpm package for AIX: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/aix/freeS...aix5.1.ppc.rpm install it with "rpm -i tar-1.14-2.aix5.1.ppc.rpm". It can be as easy as this. Cheers seth |

Tell the root-guy to install it or extract it somewhere else where gnutar is installed and after extraction copy it to the AIX host with rcp/scp or something else that can transfer directories recursively. Cheers seth |
