logrotate 3.5.9 dumping core on AIX 5.1 ML4

I need logrotate on one of my backend AIX servers. I've pulled down the binaries from aixpdslib. If I run the logrotate binary with the stock lograte.conf, it runs fine, but the minute I add my own entries, it core dumps. Anybody got a workaround?
