Hi Everyone- We are looking at running two p55As as application servers with Linux HPDL380s running Linux / Oracle RAC on the back end. I'd like to get some ideas of good Load Balancing solutions that are economical and work! I am familiar with F5, but I think that is out of our price range. I understand that you might need more info to give a reply, but any help is appreciated! Best regards |

Hi Oracle RAC already does load balancing. You can use the Linux network bonding using two or more NIC in order to get both load balancing and failover. Hope this helps

Thank you for your answer, but The application servers need load balancing as well - they are running AIX and applicaiton (X). (What load balancing solution might be a fit?) The LINUX servers run Oracle RAC - understanding that those are already load balanced. |

Hi You have to ask your appl provider if Etherchannel load balancing in Round Robin fashion works for your appl way. By default i always set Etherchannel in production servers, this way i provide services with load balancing and transparent failover in case of NIC failure, and work with network team in configuring Etherchannel groups at Switch level to complement the solution. Hope this helps
