I am trying to set my tivoli client to start the scheduler upon boot and am having a few problems with it.

When inittab runs does it read environment variables? If so from where?
I'm thinking I need the DSM_DIR variable set before inittab runs
tsmsched:nce:/usr/bin/dsmc sched > /dev/null 2>&1 # TSM scheduler
for it to work correctly.

So my question again is "Does init read enivornment variables before it starts running the commands in /etc/inittab/ and if so where does it read them from?"

Why don't you put all these into a script and run that script in /etc/inittab.

For dsmc, the default DSM_DIR for AIX is /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin
