I have a file on my AIX server and i want to transfer it to my ftp server ( which is on Linux plateform). how can i transfer it as i have already blocked FTP port on my AIX server. is there any other way.
kindly do tel me the commands as well as i dont know how to use linux . i m new to it.

Hi

If you have ftp port blocked then your organization have applied some security rules to your UNIX server so it's supposed you're using OpenSSH. If so, then you can use the sftp service running on top of the SSH protocol.

Try it by running:

sftp <userid>@<AIX_ip_Address>

Thanks for the reply. where should i type this command on my linux server or on my AIX server. note that i have to move the file from AIX to Linux .

Also tell me if i want to move from Linux to AIX

It could be from Linux to AIX or vice-versa.

Please read man ssh before actually procedding
