Hi all, I want to reduce /archivelog which is found on rootvg. this file system is located on hd3 logical volume. other filesystem need space that is why i want to reduce it. furthermore the rootvg has 5 logical volumes on it. Please help. |

conflicting info in the header ? power5 and 4.3.3 ? u need 5.2 for p5 .. hd3 is /tmp ? paste the output from lsvg -l rootvg To reduce a filesystem size in aix 4.3.3 you have to back it up, blow it away and recreate it .. or savevg / mksysb and shrink filesystems on restore. To reduce it at 5.2 / 5.3 if its jfs2, then you can use the chfs command .. jfs you still have to backup and restore .. HTH Mark taylor |

The FS is jfs -- you can't reduce the size. Your only option is to recreate the filesystem. You might want to consider building the filesystem as JFS2. Depending on the type of data being stored and the level of I/O, you probably should not have application data on your rootvg. Good luck! |
