how to install wget.1.10.2.tar.Z?

Hi pSeries

i want to install wget on a aix 5.3

i download the Binary wget : wget.1.10.2.tar.Z

my question is now:

i am a newbee: how can i install the file wget.1.10.2.tar.Z now?

ok i try it and i seems to be work..

i copy the file to / .. and unpak it there..

Hi

You can try the following command:

zcat wget.1.10.2.tar.Z | tar -xvf -

in some directory intended to install software. I advice using /usr/sys/inst.images. Then you have to read the instructions to install cause i think this is a source version of wget you have to configure and compile.

My recommendation for you is to go to IBM Web site and search for "Linux Toolbox for AIX"

there you can find software already compiled for AIX. In fact you will find the .rpm image of wget (among others) you can install with:

rpm -ivh <rpm image>
