This is the reason that IBM built own Java Versions for AIX installations. Have you tried any of them? Look here: developerWorks : Java technology : IBM developer kits : AIX : Download and service information If you still bet on SUN Java (because IBM does not offer a 1.5.0_11 Version) try to be on one of the latest TLs for AIX 5.3. As you can see on mentioned site above there is a minimum AIX Level for each Java Version. Cheers seth |

Hi bvijaycom What you got from SUN seemed to be a rpm package for redhat linux built with amd64 bit processors. Well that can't work. The power5/6 architecture from the Processors differs way too much from the amd64 bit processors. The other thing is that not every rpm packet could be installed on AIX, here is a list of all rpm packages which could be installed on AIX: IBM AIX Toolbox Download Page - Alphabetical Listing I looked arround the SUN JAVA Webpage and could not even find a compileable source of JAVA 5 SDK for AIX. Even if you find it somewhere I would honestly dissuade from doing the compile stuff by yourself. Java itself has problems enough in the precompiled stuff you can download from the IBM site I posted in my first reply. By compiling it for yourself you add a possible error factor which is way too high. An the nice thing for the stuff from IBM site is, you got support for it you can call .Cheers seth |
