Hi, I am running a test to see what performance and implications GLVM will have on our operation, but I have hit a weird problem.

I created the RPVserver and RPVclient, but when I add the remote volume group, it does not find the remote site. I also noticed that list the remote site shows the remote disk, but not the site name.
Version of GLVM is 5.4.1.0.
lsrpvserver -H gives this information
# RPV Server Physical Volume Identifier Physical Volume
# -----------------------------------------------------------
rpvserver0 00047413955a7217 hdisk2

lsrpvclient -H gives this information

# RPV Client Physical Volume Identifier Remote Site
# -----------------------------------------------------------
hdisk4 00047413955a7217

The section under remote site is missing. I cannot extend the VG, as it is missing something, but I can't put a handle on exactly what is missing. I declared each site seperatley, have trashed and rebuilt the configuration, but no luck.

Any thoughts, stabs in the dark??

Fixed. Missed an important point in the configuration, in that the remote site PV must not be allocated to a volume group.

Hi Paul,

Out of interest, are you doing sync or async mirroring/do you have the choice ? have never implemented glvm before and wondered what it would be like for an Oracle DB in a DR scenario with a warm standby database ? what bandwidth do you have between the sites and what is the rate of change in your data ?
