Hi all, Here is my output below: According to technical specification, i can upgrade up to 8gb of memory. From the output below i have 16 X 256 = 4gb. How can i view the free DIMMS, so that i could take a decision how much memory i could buy. OK, so your first memory card is full. You can either use a second memory card and 16 x 256 or 8 x 512 MB dimms or you can swap your 16 x 256 MB dimms for 16 x 512 MB dimms. To see if you have the second memory card either look in the system for a second empty card near the full card or run: # lscfg -vp | grep -p MEMORY The second card will have a location code of P1-M2 but it is unlikely you would have an empty card. So you have to decide which is cheaper, the extra card and 16 x 256 MB dimms or just 16 x 512 MB dimms and you might get some money back for your redundant 256 MB dimms. |
