Re: Firware

Please post the error.

lscfg -vl fcs3
Device Specific.(Z9)........ is the firmware level

You can check the level and download the latest from IBM - Microcode downloads

Under "2) Download microcode by device type" select Adapters and hit Go.

Hi

Hard to say. Please post the output of

errpt -a

with the error for your adapter. You can download Microcodes form IBM Web site using the link provided by duke900ssd.

Hope this helps

Re: Firware

Definately a good call to post the error please.

Besides Microcode there are some settings on the adapter itself.

In my environment (AIX+McData Switches+HDS San) the default INIT Link flag is set to "al" after a fresh install of AIX.

I don't know a hell of a lot about these things, but do know it's supposed to be "pt2pt" for us. Despite the mis-match it works ok but did generate link errors a couple of years ago. Lucky for us as we boot off these interfaces

Normal practice for us is to change the card to pt2pt (point to point) and apply changes to database only followed by an immediate reboot to take up the change.

Handle with care!

Re: Firware

lsattr -El fscsi3 would also be useful to see how the switch is connected.
