Is is advisable to have jfs and jfs2 filesysetms in a vg (say datavg). If not, can you please explain the reasons.

I would recommend that you use jfs2 exclusively as this is simply put a better more advanced filesystems than jfs.

Yes, you can have both types of jfs in the same VG. However jfs2 is more advanced than jfs so best practices recommends using jfs2.

Of course you can have scenarios where both FS types are presented.

We are using similar setup in our Production environment for quite long time. We have not yet face any I/O issue till now.

Any I/O problem will be related to the number of I/Os required by the physical disk rather than the format of the filesystem.

If you are having I/O problems using jfs2 with Inline logs can often be the solution. Otherwise writes to filesystems can block whilst waiting to write to the log file.
