Hi all, Does anyone know if it's possible to get IBM's (Syskonnect) PCI FDDI card working under AIX 5.3? I know it's officially not supported (up to 5.1 i think), and it's just a 'for fun' thing (100Mbit ethernet being about as fast)...i just want to try and link my F50 to a Cabletron FDDI concentrator. Tips, anyone?

Well I found this on the oem-drivers ftp server from ibm: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/devices/rs6000/oemadapters/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SK-NET FDDI-FP Nework Adapter skfddi.dd.bin: This file is the InstallP form of the AIX DD (devices.pci.48110040) for the SysKonnect PCI FDDI adapters SK-5544, SK-5521 & SK-5543 orderable from IBM for ALL PCI based RS/6000 models using AIX Version 4.1.5 or later, including AIX 5L. The latest supported level of this device driver is "1.4.0.3". It also contains the diagnostics fileset, level "4.1.1.0". To find out the level of this driver on a system, search for these strings in the output of 'lslpp -ah' "devices.pci.48110040.rte" and "devices.pci.48110040.diag" skfddi.supp.bin: This file is the SysKonnect Supplemental Diagnostics for the SysKonnect FDDI adapter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Well it seems that AIX 5L is supportet, the question is how much "L" is supported .Well in your case I would download those drivers there and run "inutoc" on them and look in the .toc file to see what the requisites of the drivers are. Cheers Sebastian |
