Hello everyone, I am having a problem adding the FREE PPS’ for hdisk0 to the /dev/lv01 filesystem. I am also New to AIX so please bare with me. OS= AIX 4.3.2.0 I have tried to do this via information found in another post on this forum but received the following error chfs -a size=+1 /dev/lv01 0516-404 allocp: This system cannot fulfill the allocation request. There are not enough free partitions or not enough physical volumes to keep strictness and satisfy allocation requests. The command should be retried with different allocation characteristics. Can you please assist me with the process of adding the free diskspace to the /dev/lv01 filesystem ? Is there any additional information that I may be overlooking ? Information about the system is listed below… PHYSICAL VOLUME: hdisk0 VOLUME GROUP: rootvg PV IDENTIFIER: 00607271328c3655 VG IDENTIFIER 0060727139e55d93 PV STATE: active STALE PARTITIONS: 0 ALLOCATABLE: yes PP SIZE: 4 megabyte(s) LOGICAL VOLUMES: 7 TOTAL PPs: 515 (2060 megabytes) VG DESCRIPTORS: 2 FREE PPs: 89 (356 megabytes) USED PPs: 426 (1704 megabytes) FREE DISTRIBUTION: 49..00..00..09..31 USED DISTRIBUTION: 54..103..103..94..72 PHYSICAL VOLUME: hdisk1 VOLUME GROUP: vol2 PV IDENTIFIER: 006072714490804c VG IDENTIFIER 00607271450b571d PV STATE: active STALE PARTITIONS: 0 ALLOCATABLE: yes PP SIZE: 256 megabyte(s) LOGICAL VOLUMES: 5 TOTAL PPs: 8 (2048 megabytes) VG DESCRIPTORS: 2 FREE PPs: 0 (0 megabytes) USED PPs: 8 (2048 megabytes) FREE DISTRIBUTION: 00..00..00..00..00 USED DISTRIBUTION: 02..02..01..01..02 # lsvg rootvg VOLUME GROUP: rootvg VG IDENTIFIER: 0060727139e55d93 VG STATE: active PP SIZE: 4 megabyte(s) VG PERMISSION: read/write TOTAL PPs: 515 (2060 megabytes) MAX LVs: 256 FREE PPs: 89 (356 megabytes) LVs: 7 USED PPs: 426 (1704 megabytes) OPEN LVs: 6 QUORUM: 2 TOTAL PVs: 1 VG DESCRIPTORS: 2 STALE PVs: 0 STALE PPs: 0 ACTIVE PVs: 1 AUTO ON: yes MAX PPs per PV: 1016 MAX PVs: 32 Filesystem 1024-blocks Free %Used Iused %Iused Mounted on /dev/hd4 16384 4116 75% 2024 25% / /dev/hd2 1589248 253096 85% 42039 11% /usr /dev/hd9var 8192 104 99% 280 14% /var /dev/hd3 20480 18892 8% 86 2% /tmp /dev/lv00 524288 46120 92% 10803 9% /vol2 /dev/lv01 786432 65116 92% 7124 4% /vol2b # lslv lv01 LOGICAL VOLUME: lv01 VOLUME GROUP: vol2 LV IDENTIFIER: 00607271450b571d.4 PERMISSION: read/write VG STATE: active/complete LV STATE: opened/syncd TYPE: jfs WRITE VERIFY: off MAX LPs: 512 PP SIZE: 256 megabyte(s) COPIES: 1 SCHED POLICY: parallel LPs: 3 PPs: 3 STALE PPs: 0 BB POLICY: relocatable INTER-POLICY: minimum RELOCATABLE: yes INTRA-POLICY: middle UPPER BOUND: 32 MOUNT POINT: /vol2b LABEL: /vol2b MIRROR WRITE CONSISTENCY: on EACH LP COPY ON A SEPARATE PV ?: yes |

Good Afternoon, You are trying to use chfs to increase the size of the LV, you should be trying to increase the size of the Filesystem instead == chfs -a size=+1 /vol2b will increase the FS by 4MB. using "size=+1" says to increase the FS by 1 512-byte block, but your physical-partition size is 4MB and increases will always be done to the next full PP |
