Hi all, Please can anyone help me planning for a disaster recover plan for AIX 4.3.3. What are the issues i should take into consideration. I have planned to set up a NIM server. As i have an IBM server with Oracle 7.3 as database in archivelog mode. If i setup a NIM server with same config as my live server, can i boot my main server from the NIS master. Please Help. |

Disaster recovery is about much more than just booting stuff, you need to consider fire, flood and every other kind of disaster and how you will get working again. That said: NIM server is the basis of your disaster recovery to reinstall the mksysb you will have made of your machine. However what about: What happens if your NIM server is caught in the disaster? Data Recovery? NIM won't help you there. Finding Hardware to run AIX 4.3.3 if the machine is damaged? I know this isn't the answer you want, but you need to plan what is best for your business before you can create a DR solution!
