Can anyone help I have a mksysb image on my nim server and am attempting to install the client via smit nim_bosinst. on the "select the mksysb to use for installation" screen the client mksysb is not an option available to use. |

You have to define the mksysb as a resource within nim first. You should then generate a spot from the mksysb before installing.

| thats great, I have worked it out. Basically the syntax on my command was wrong the command I issued to add the resource was the following. nim -o define -t mksysb -a server=master -a location=/nimrsg/nim/mksysb/kserver1_mksysb server1_mksysb then server1_mksysb was an option during the # smit nim_bosinst. thanks for your reply Martin |

The thing that puzzles me is how to start at 'smitty nim' and somehow arrive at 'smitty nim_bosinst'. I have looked all around for the logical link between the two and don't see it. Support folks have just encouraged me to remember the nim_bosinst fastpath and type it in each time. Maybe one of these days I will search through the odm and see if this link really exists, or maybe it is really obvious and I am just stupid. c ya |
