System info: p550, 4CPU (8 SMP), 32GB memory DB2 database server I have been doing some reading and searching on tuning the AIO parameters. One thing that was mentioned was that the AIO would only help if you were using filesystem based files, and not raw logical volumes. Would the use of CIO fall into that same category? |

CIO should only be used on filesystem based files. As an example, it makes a filesystem based data file "look" like it's on a raw device to Oracle (with about an 80% - 90% success rate). Obviously, if one were already using a raw device, CIO wouldn't be needed. |
