The more we discuss this, the more it makes sense to install a LPAR if for nothing else but to test TLs. But the question is what do I have to allocate. My biggest problem would probably be the memory it usually runs at 99% and paging runs from 0 to 40%.
Also, what all does the LPAR share? The DVD drive? What about the tape library? Another problem could be I don't have enough disk space to replicate everything that is installed in production. We have a test environment but for some reason they installed it on the same machines as production.
Will the LPAR have to have its own IP address? I would guess so because it is "virtually" its own machine.
If I can come up with enough information maybe I can convince the "powers-to-be" how much safer and more secure it will be. |
